My votes in the NH House session
of April 9, 2026

We voted on a couple of veto overrides, several concurrences on House bills that the Senate amended, and a few Senate bills that were reported out of House committees.

In this midst of these bills, Minority Leader Alexis Simpson moved to reprimand Rep. Travis Corcoran. Rep. Corcoran, in response to a general invitation to the “Karaoke Caucus” from a Jewish member of the House, posted on X, “We need a final solution to theater kids in politics,” referencing Hitler’s “final solution” for Jews. The matter was referred to the Legislative Administration Committee.

During the Unanimous Consent period after we voted on bills, my ranking member, Rep. Kat McGhee, and I were hoping to speak on our colleague, Rep. Wendy Thomas, being removed from our committee. Rep. McGhee had asked our committee chair, Rep. Michael Vose, if we could have a few minutes at the start of our committee’s session on Monday to speak on this topic, and he denied her request. So we decided to speak during Unanimous Consent instead. It turned out that I would not have been allowed to speak because, as House Clerk Paul Smith informed us, except for memorial remarks, only one speaker is allowed per topic. Rep. McGhee did not get very far into her remarks before Republican Rep. Joe Sweeney objected. A roll call vote on the question “Shall the member continue?” had the tally 155-181, and so Rep. McGhee’s remarks were cut short. Garry Rayno wrote about it here.
